Naomi Rich, DVM

Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Dermatology

Dr. Naomi Rich received her Bachelor of Science in biology from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She went on to earn a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. 

During her time in veterinary school, Dr. Rich focused on small animal and avian medicine, with special interest in dermatology, pain management, and preventative care. She worked in an ocular pathology laboratory and did research at the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, Wisconsin.  Her research on the use of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pain medication in cranes was published in the Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine. 

After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Rich moved back to Washington state where she worked for several years in small animal private practice in Bothell, Washington. Training under the mentorship of Dr. David Duclos, Dr. Rich completed her residency at Animal Skin and Allergy Clinic in Lynwood, WA and attained diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD) in 2021. During her residency Dr. Rich published research on a novel technique for identifying bacteria on the skin surface of animals in the Journal of Veterinary Dermatology, the use of CO2 laser and a vaccine for treating severe oral papilloma in dogs as a case report and the genetics of a rare canine skin disease in the Journal of Animal Genetics. 

Dr. Rich is dedicated to providing the highest standard of veterinary dermatology specialty care for the community’s animals.

Fun Facts:

Dr. Rich, a Seattle native, grew up in a household she shared with a rabbit, a cat, birds, fish, lizards, a Brazilian tarantula, and a dog. She was encouraged to follow her interest in becoming a veterinarian from an early age!
 
Dr. Rich lives with her husband, son, golden retriever and leopard gecko. She enjoys the outdoors, camping, skiing, and bird watching, as well as reading and painting during her free time.
