Sadie Looks Like a New Dog

Adult, female mix-breed dog, Sadie, looks like a new dog after recovery from a mycobacterial infection.

Before:

Sadie was diagnosed with mycobacterial infection. Mycobacterial infections are uncommon and caused by a family of bacteria that when introduced into the skin can be quite challenging to eliminate.  Lesions causes by this type of infection can include nodules, draining tracts and hair loss. These organisms live in the deeper layers of the skin and can be very difficult to identify. Special stains and biopsies are often required to diagnose this condition.  

 

After:

Hard to believe that this is the same dog! But with some effort and medication, Sadie did very well.
