Yaicha Peters, DVM

Resident, American College of Veterinary Dermatology

Dr. Yaicha Peters was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and subsequently lived in 9 other states and abroad in Panama.  She attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she earned her BS in Animal Science in 2006.  While at UMASS, she conducted research with gamma delta T cells and worked on the university's farm.  After graduation, Dr. Peters attended Kansas State University, where she earned her DVM in 2010.  During her time in veterinary school, Dr. Peters was fortunate to conduct research with Corynebacterium at MIT as part of the Division of Comparative Medicine.

After completing her studies, Dr. Peters practiced mixed and exotic animal medicine in Amarillo, Texas for two years.  She then moved to Orlando, Florida and practiced small and exotic medicine for another 11 years, ultimately earning the position of medical director in her practice.  In July of 2023, Dr. Peters gratefully began her 3-year veterinary dermatology residency with Animal Dermatology Clinic in San Diego.

Fun Facts:

Dr. Peters is passionate about the arts!  She enjoys painting, pottery, jewelry making, needlecrafts, and crochet.  Her favorite subject matter is, of course, animals.
