Andrew Wirkkala, BVM BVS

Dr. Andrew Wirkkala was born and raised in Vancouver, Washington. He attended Washington State University where he received Bachelor of Science in Zoology. After graduating he spent three years working full time as a veterinary assistant before applying to veterinary school. He attended the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and received a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVM&S) in 2021. After graduation, he moved to Hawaii to experience living in a sunny area for the first time in his life. He completed a 6-month rotating mentorship at a specialty hospital before going into general practice. During this time, he developed an interest in veterinary dermatology which eventually led him into pursuing dermatology specialization.
